What is The Admiral Collingwood Lodge?
The Admiral Collingwood Lodge, no. 13 is a Lodge of Freemasons, meeting in Ivanhoe. We are warranted to meet as a Lodge by the United Grand Lodge of Victoria. The Lodge was formed in November of 1856, and took its name from that great English Admiral, Baron Cuthbert Collingwood(1750-1810).
The Lodge meets at the Ivalda Masonic Centre, on the 4th Tuesday of each month, with the exception of December and January. However, in January, there is ordinarily a social gathering of some description, be it a restaurant dinner, BBQ, or barefoot bowls.
The lodge has a diverse age range of members, from the early 20’s through to a few in their 90s. Our membership is likewise drawn from a variety of professions, from plumbers, builders, IT consultants, musicians, teachers, and beyond. As such; any man looking to join the Admiral Collingwood Lodge, or Freemason paying us a visit, will doubtless be able to find a few of his peers and contemporaries in our ranks.
Our meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month, from February to November. In November we hold our “Installation”, at which time, the new Master of the Lodge is installed into office as head of the lodge for the next year. Meetings start at 7:30PM sharp, and are followed by a meal together in the hall.
Our “festive board”, where we dine together after a meeting, is usually a relaxed occasion. There are a few short toasts given, such as thanking guests for their company. However, the primary focus of this time is to enjoy the fellowship of the brethren.
The Lodge welcomes any inquiry about membership from those who meet the criteria for membership, or Masons from other lodges looking to take a bigger part in Admiral Collingwoods life and future.
